Volunteers across Auckland have begun the massive job of collecting unwanted household items for the country’s biggest garage sale.

Called Get Organised Auckland, collection points have been set up around the city for Aucklanders to donate things they no longer need. Collection points will operate on Saturdays, September 9 and 30.

The project ends with a giant garage sale on November 18 and 19 at the ASB Showgrounds, raising money for New Zealand’s largest family violence prevention agency, Preventing Violence in the Home.

With the release of her new hit single I Love You Too and video featuring her family, New Zealand’s first lady of hip-hop, Aaradhna, is leading the support for Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland. She joins Judy Bailey, Trelise Cooper and other high profile New Zealanders, including the Vodafone Warriors, in donating treasures to Get Organised Auckland.

Drop off unneeded gear at a collection point near you on Saturday, September 9 and Saturday, September 30, between 8am-1pm: the Depot car park on Sir Lloyd Elsmore Drive, inside Lloyd Elsmore Park, entrance on Pakuranga Rd, Pakuranga; Howick public car park on Fencible Drive opposite BNZ, Howick.

For details call Get Organised Auckland spokesperson Lynley Kirk-Smith on 021 377 503 or see www.getorganisedauckland.co.nz.
