Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland was inspired by the wildly successful Get Organized New York, which raised over $500,000 for the Fund for Public Schools in the US.

Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland is a huge city-wide garage sale taking place in spring to raise funds and awareness for Preventing Violence in the Home, New Zealand’s pre-eminent agency for prevention, advocacy, programmes and support for victims of domestic violence and their children.Throughout the campaign we are encouraging Aucklanders to declutter their homes, donate their unwanted goods and by doing so, daring to care about what Chief Family Court Judge Peter Boshier describes as our ‘national shame’, that is, family and domestic violence.

Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland is a Handle with Care initiative with the overriding aim of reminding Aucklanders of the importance of caring for each other, our families and the people among whom we live.

The Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland Charity Garage Sale is all about caring for others by donating the stuff you no longer need.

It’s about contributing to Get Organised Auckland, a massive garage sale of donated items to be held at the ASB Showgrounds in Epsom on November 17th to 19th.

It’s also about giving other people a chance to enjoy the things you don’t use. And at the same time, it’s a great excuse to sort out your home or workplace!

Above all, it’s about helping the victims of domestic violence.

Why you should Get Organised

The Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland is an initiative put together by Handle With Care, a new brand developed by the charity Preventing Violence in the Home to help stop domestic violence and remind New Zealanders to handle each other with more care.

This is in response to the horrific level of family violence experienced in this country; statistically, one in three households are affected by violence. Recently, police attended over 11,000 family violence calls in just two months. And that’s just the cases we know about.

We think it’s time something was done. That’s why we’re asking you to donate to The Bank of New Zealand Get Organised Auckland. By doing so, you’ll help create a better, safer community for our families and children.
